James Blasco: So, uh, why don't we get started by just telling us a little bit about your career journey and how you ended up where you are.
far, but, um, I, I guess my [: I wasn't one of those lucky [: two young children and I was [: r example, I went to work, I [: nization or what it meant to [: tanding of what those unique [: alk to individuals about the [: 's a mouthful, but basically [: rned about the importance of [: e passionate about. And then [: Teresa Smith: Um, I was [: l. Um, I, I asked questions. [: d, and that's really more or [:Teresa Smith: Uh, as I envisioned Volusia County Women in Care and as it's grown.
James Blasco: That, that's [: mes Blasco: What is, kind of [: le leaders, as I was getting [: rganization that believed in [: : And one of the things that [: ithin integrity? Am I living [: lived in that area, you will [: Teresa Smith: I wanted [: time when we were officially [: ing, finding where we wanted [: m, well, I, that some people [: ling her this story. I said, [: I want to make a difference [: id, well how does that work? [: of my friends. And, and [: mith: And we started putting [: s. Um, we started in November: hat day. Um, it was, it was. [: my name is Teresa Smith. I'm [: probably just a teeny little [: [: orward and now here we are in: is to bring people together, [: 're started, they're started [: e down to come down. So that [: nts that we want to achieve. [: athletics and athletes. And, [: appen, right? So they, they, [: the things I used to tell my [: ractice on time? Or, yeah, I [: continuum. Um, and then the [: eresa Smith: So, being very, [: u make, recognizing you have [:Teresa Smith: And so for me, it's part of just recognizing what's important to me, lining up my actions, and then realizing I have a choice to make.
ames Blasco: So, uh, I guess [:James Blasco: What, how did that become a goal?
eresa Smith: Well, that, um, [: you know, understanding your [: ich seemed really old at the [: , so she made an offer to me [: And it was quite a journey. [: ded that it was a challenge, [: you know, on such and such a [: er time. And so, you know, I [: k because my days were long. [: ay, I can sit, I can pull on [: some days just to get myself [: ys really, really happy. Um, [: ver done an event, you know, [: d they were predicting, that [: ead and do it with all these [: an, you're kidding. The hard [: ust the cherry on top of it. [:James Blasco: Well, I'm so envious of folks who can run that far.
James Blasco: I can't run [: nated by the world of mental [: co: Everything you described [: ain, it's, it's the journey. [: formally, you get, you know, [: Teresa Smith: Knowing [: me, it's. It's taking every [: as our weaknesses are really [: ask the right questions, um, [: we should do it that way, as [:Teresa Smith: Being confident that there are people around me that really aren't trying to undermine me what they're trying to do is help me

Teresa Smith: And [: t to do and how they want to [:James Blasco: Sure. Um, all right.
o Care? You know, how can we [:Teresa Smith: Thank you, James. Well, it's really, hopefully it's simple. And that's the idea. Volusia County Women Who Care is a simple concept. The idea is that, um, anybody is welcome.
Teresa Smith: Man, woman, [: irst step is to show up. You [: Teresa Smith: Um, [: rter to the selected, member [: eople get to hear about that [: present your charity and you [: t involved, if you're in the [: ite a check to that fund and [: makes a difference. So [: do everything we have to do [: mazing work. And so, we have [: nd your board, and everybody [: close to touching.
